The LPLONGHORNS Cheerleading organization was founded to promote a recreational cheerleading program with a major emphasis on fun, teamwork, and competitive sportsmanship. Our cheerleading program is led by our Cheerleading Director Pam Strickland who is a member of the LPLONGHORNS Board of Directors, The, trainers, and team mothers are a dedicated group of people who volunteer their time and talents to coordinate each cheerleading squad.
Our trainers are an ambitious group of young people that volunteer to teach LPLONGHORNS cheerleaders the art of "cheer". Trainers are usually girls that have been cheerleaders for LPLONGHORNS in the past. Coaches and trainers are interviewed by and approved by the LPLONGHORNS Board of Directors. Coaches must be 21 years of age. Trainers must be at least 14 years of age.
There are no try-outs and all girls registering are rostered on a team. Cheerleaders perform during football season, August through December. They could participate in a Cheer off Competition, held at the end of the season. The cheerleaders may also participate in other league approved functions, such as other competitions outside of our conference, parades, exhibitions, etc.
